Kamaal Khan is a new face in Danish Hockey. He is an umpire coming from Italy, and he will stay in Denmark at least two years due to his study.
He has already some Danish Men’s league matches on his CV, but to give him a better presentation to Danish hockey environment we have asked him some questions.
For how many years have you been umpiring … and where?
I’ve been umpiring for 4 years, mainly in my home country’s first divisions (Italy). I have also umpired at the 2017 EHF Club Trophy in Russia, in Ireland at the tri-nations tournament in 2018 and most recently at the 2019 EHF Club Challenge I in Poland.
Could you provide us with some personal facts?
I’m 25 years old, and have personal interests around photography, bachata dancing (red. “social dance coming from the Dominican Republic”), sports, programming.
I live in Lyngby and study for my master’s degree in Design and Innovation at DTU.
What is your first impression of Danish Hockey?
I see that the people involved around Danish hockey are passionate about the sport, and that’s essential. Although outdoor hockey doesn’t seem to be very popular here when it comes to number of teams in highest league, it’s great to see teams still working hard.
Welcome to Danish Hockey, Kamaal, and we wish you a great stay in Denmark
