Kommende strategiaftale mellem Dansk Hockey Union (DHU) og Dansk Idrætsforbund (DIF) for 2026-2029
Q: Hvad er Dansk Hockey Union?
A: Dansk Hockey Union (eller DHU) er det styrende organ for hockey i Danmark. Vores officielle mission er at organisere og udviklie hockeysporten i Danmark, samtidig med at det bliver nemmere og sjovere at være aktiv i dansk hockey.
Administrativt er DHU’s bestyrelse og tilhørende udvalg ansvarlige for den daglige drift af alt der vedrører hockey på nationalt plan i Danmark. Dette inkluderer for eksempel nationale turneringer for alle aldersgrupper, de danske landshold og eliteudviklingsprogrammer. Det omfatter også alt bagvedliggende arbejde som IT, økonomi og juridiske forhold, samt koordinering og samarbejde med EuroHockey, og International Hockey Federation (FIH). DHU’s bestyrelse og udvalg har også ansvar for udviklingen af dansk hockey. Det indebærer initiativer, der understøtter udviklingen af vores medlemsorganisationer – eller klubber – og alle de frivillige der bidrager på klub- eller nationalt plan. Det inkluderer specifikke projekter til at øge kendskabet til hockey og introducere sporten for flere børn gennem f.eks. skolepartnerskaber. Det indebærer også kommunikation og markedsføring på vegne af DHU, så vi kan sprede budskabet om alle de spændende og vigtige ting, der sker i dansk hockey hver dag. Derfor er det vigtigt, at alle får mulighed for at blive hørt om, hvad vi hver især kan gøre – uanset hvor vi er – for at gøre dansk hockey til et endnu bedre sted for os alle, både i dag og i fremtiden!
Q: Hvad handler denne strategiaftale med DIF om?
A: Kort sagt får alle de mindre specialforbund, der er tilknyttet DIF, støtte fra “den danske stat”, administreret gennem DIF. Denne støtte bidrager både til den daglige drift af forbundet OG til udviklingen af sporten. De midler, der specifikt er øremærket til udvikling, er baseret på strategiaftalen mellem DHU og DIF, som løber over en fireårig periode.
Det beløb, som DHU modtager for perioden 2026-2029, er allerede fastlagt baseret på de overordnede strategisk mål, som er aftalt med DIF. Men de konkrete planer for HVORDAN disse midler skal bruges, og hvilke specifikke projekter og initiativer vi vil gennemføre for at nå målene, er det, vi arbejder med lige nu. Vi har både evnen og muligheden for at fortsætte med at udvikle hockeysporten i Danmark OG gøre den endnu bedre for vores nuværende og kommende medlemmer. Men det kræver, at vi arbejder sammen OG har klare mål for HVAD vi vil opnå og HVORDAN vi vil gøre det. Det er præcis det, der defineres i strategiaftalen.
Disse initiativer og projekter vil ikke nødvendigvis være de eneste udviklingsområder i de næste fire år, men de vil være de primære strategiske prioriteter for DHU’s administration og ressourcer.
Vi skal fortsat have ambitiøse mål for fremtiden for dansk hockey, og vi skal også sikre, at vi rent faktisk kan nå dem. Det betyder, at vi er nød til at prioritere nogle fokusområder over andre. Det betyder ikke, at det, der ikke er i fokus, ikke er vigtigt – det betyder bare, at der er områder, vi tror har særligt potentiale for at løfte kvaliteten i dansk hockey, og det er dér, vi vælger at investere tid og penge i de kommende fire år.
Q: Hvorfor er det vigtigt for DIG? A: Den nemmeste måde at svare på det spørgsmål er ved at fremhæve nogle af de nøgleaktiviteter i dansk hockey i dag, som er resultatet af udviklingsprojekter i tidligere strategiaftaler: Hockey5 og udviklingsprogrammer for unge dommere og trænere.
Hockey5 opstod som et resultat af strategiaftalen for 2022-2025. Hockey5 er gået fra at være et helt ukendt koncept i dansk hockey til at være en integreret del af vores turneringsstruktur – og har givet endnu flere spillere i alle aldre mulighed for at spille hockey! Hockey5 er også blevet en vigtig del af talent- og eliteprogrammet for ungdommen. I 2026 vil Danmark sende et U16-pigehold og et U16-drengehold til de respektive europamesterskaber, som spilles i Hockey5-format. Den seneste strategiaftale gjorde alt dette muligt, ved at sikre den nødvendige finansering og ressourcer til at investere i nyt udstyr og begivenheder, samt lave en strategisk plan for, hvordan ressourcerne skulle bruges bedst muligt til gavn for hele dansk hockey.
Du har måske også selv deltaget i – eller hørt om – DHU’s udviklingsweekend sidste år, som var en weekend fyldt med inspirerende samarbejdssessioner samt uddannelse for kommende dommere og trænere. Det var et initiativ, der blev skabt inden for rammerne af den tidligere strategiaftale. Siden da har det ført til udviklingen af flere unge dommere og trænere i DHU – dem har du måske allerede mødt ude på banen!
Der er stadig mere at gøre på disse områder, men nogle af projekterne betragtes ikke længere som udviklingsprojekter – de er nu en fast del af DHU’s kerneydelser og tilbud. Det er et tegn på succes og bæredygtighed!
Disse projekter har været en succes, fordi de har taget udgangspunkt i behov og ønsker fra folk som DIG i dansk hockey. Og de har været en succes, fordi vores medlemmer har taget dem til sig og støttet dem hele vejen.
Udviklingsprojekternes potentiale i DHU er reelt set ubegrænset – men de kan kun blive en succes, hvis de matcher behov og ønsker fra folk som DIG, og hvis du tror på dem og bakker op om dem.
Strategiaftalen for de næste fire år har potentialet til at sikre, at udviklingen i dansk hockey bevæger sig i den rigtige retning – og medvirker til, at dansk hockey bliver et sted, hvor alle kan trives – også DIG!

Upcoming Strategy Agreement between the Danish Hockey Union (DHU) and the Danish Sports Federation (DIF) for 2026-2029
Q: What is the Danish Hockey Union?
A: The Danish Hockey Union (or DHU) is the governing body of hockey here in Denmark. Our official mission is to organize and grow the sport of hockey in Denmark, while making it easier and more fun to be active within Danish Hockey.
Administratively, the Board of DHU and its underlying committees are responsible for the daily functioning of all things hockey at a national level in Denmark. For example, this includes the national tournaments for all age groups, the Danish national teams and elite development programs. It includes all of the backend business like IT, finances and legal matters. It also includes well as coordination and partnership with EuroHockey and the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
DHU’s board and committees are also responsible for the development of Danish Hockey. This includes initiatives to support the development of our member organizations – or clubs – and all of the individuals volunteering at either the club or the national level. It includes specific projects to increase awareness of hockey and to introduce hockey to more kids through, for example, school partnership programs. It also includes communications and marketing on behalf of DHU so we can get the word out about all of the important and very cool things that are happening all around Danish Hockey every day.
The answer to the question “What is the Danish Hockey Union?” is really quite simple… WE are the Danish Hockey Union! Every single one of us. That is why it is so important that everyone has a chance to make their voice heard about what we all can do – wherever we are – to make Danish Hockey an even better place for all of us, today and in the future!
Q: What is this Strategy Agreement with DIF all about?
A: The short version is, that all of the smaller national associations affiliated with DIF receive funding from the Danish government, which is administered through DIF. This funding helps to support both the regular, everyday functioning of the association AND help to support the development of the sports association. The funds that are tied specifically to development are based on the Strategy Agreement between DHU and DIF, which spans over a four-year period.
The amount of funding DHU will receive for the next period 2026-2029 is already set based on general strategy goals that have been agreed upon with DIF. However, the specific plans for HOW those funds will be used and which specific projects and initiatives we will carry out to meet those general goals, is what we are currently working towards.
We have the power and the capacity to continue to grow the sport of hockey in Denmark AND continue to make it a better place for all of our existing and future members, but we can only do this if we work together AND have clear goals for WHAT we want to achieve and HOW we can achieve it. This is exactly what is defined in the Strategy Agreement.
While these initiatives and projects won’t necessarily be the ONLY things that will be in focus throughout the next four years in terms of development, they will be the main strategic priorities of DHU’s administration and resources.
We must continue to have ambitious goals for the future of Danish Hockey AND we also must ensure that we can actually achieve these goals. This means we have to prioritize some focus areas above others. It doesn’t mean that the things that aren’t in focus aren’t important, it just means that there are other areas that we believe have the power to improve the quality of Danish Hockey and that is where we are going to choose to put our time and money into developing in those directions over the next four years.
Q: Why does this matter for YOU?
A: The easiest way to answer this question is to highlight some of the key activities in Danish Hockey today, that are the product of the development projects in past Strategy Agreements: Hockey5 and development programs for young umpires and coaches.
Hockey5 was born out of the Strategy Agreement for 2022-2025. Hockey 5 has gone from being a completely unknown concept in Danish Hockey to being an integral part of our tournament structure – giving even more players across all age groups the opportunity to play hockey! Hockey5 has also become an important part of the Talent and Elite Development program at the youth level. In 2026, Denmark will send a U16 girls’ team and a U16 boys’ team to their respective European Championships, which are played in the Hockey5 format.
The most recent Strategy Agreement helped to bring all of this to life by securing the funding and resources that have been necessary to invest in new equipment and events, as well as, providing a clear strategic plan to how to use these resources in the best way possible for all of us in Danish Hockey.
You might also have attended or heard about DHU’s development weekend last year, which was a weekend full of inspiring collaboration sessions, as well as training camps for aspiring umpires and coaches. This was an initiative that was established within the framework of the last Strategy Agreement. It has since led to the development of multiple young umpires and coaches across DHU, who you might already have met out on the hockey field!
There is still more work to be done in all of these areas, but some of these projects are no longer viewed as development projects, they are already officially built into Danish Hockey as our core services and offerings. That is a sign of success and sustainability!
These projects have been successful because they helped to address the needs and wishes of people like YOU out there in Danish Hockey. And they have also been successful because YOU have embraced them and supported them along the way.
The potential impact of our development projects in DHU is truly unlimited, but they will only be successful if they serve the needs and desires of people like YOU and, if people like you believe in them and support them.
The Strategy Agreement for the next four years has the potential to ensure that the developments in Danish Hockey take our sport and our community in the right direction and help to ensure that Danish Hockey is a place where ALL of us can thrive – including YOU!
